Labs Architecture IT Center and Labs, Department of
Architecture
Tyler School of Art
The Architecture Department IT Center and Computer labs
currently provide service to over three hundred students and
approximately twenty staff. All PCs are running Windows XP
and support AutoCAD 2002, FormZ 4.2, Adobe CS (Photoshop,
Illustrator, GoLive, InDesign) and MS Office 2003 Suite. Mac
G4's are running OS X10.3 and support FormZ 4.2, Adober CS
(Photoshop, Illustrator, GoLive, InDesign) and MS Office
2003 Suite.
AutoCAD Graphics Lab, College of Engineering
Room 305, College of Engineering building
The AutoCAD Graphics lab features 20 Dell PC-compatible
computers, 1 BSD workstation. Software includes AutoCad,
Matlab, PSPICE, VLSI Design GIMP, Koffice, Netscape,
Konqueror, Timidity, xcdplayer, xmp, Axyftp, gcc, and many
other programs.
Civil Engineering Lab, College of Engineering
Room 307, College of Engineering building
The Civil Engineering lab features 20 Dell PC-compatible
computers, 1 BSD workstation. Software includes AutoCad,
Matlab, PSPICE, VLSI Design GIMP, Koffice, Netscape,
Konqueror, Timidity, xcdplayer, xmp, Axyftp, gcc, and many
other programs.
College of Engineering General Labs, College of
Engineering
Room 304 and Room 314, College of Engineering building
The College of Engineering has its own computing
laboratories with numerous state-of-the-art workstations.
The lab in Room 304 features 20 Dell PC-compatible
computers, 1 BSD workstation and Room 314 features 30 Dell
PC-compatible computers, 3 BSD workstations, and 3
high-resolution and color scanners. Software includes
AutoCad, Matlab, PSPICE, VLSI Design, LAN Workgroups (Telnet
with ssh encrypted login, X Windows, and Netscape
Navigator), Microsoft Office, Openoffice, and Scilab.
Laser printing is also available.
College of Engineering Hewlett-Packard/Workstation Lab,
College of Engineering
Room 316, College of Engineering building
The Hewlett-Packard lab features 12 Unix-based workstations
that can run IDEAS (3-D solids modeling), VLSI Design
ANSYS (Finite Element Modeling), C compiler, and FORTRAN
compiler.
College of Liberal Arts (CLA) Labs, College of
Liberal Arts
Anderson Hall
The College of Liberal Arts offers several labs in
Anderson Hall that feature over 100 Dell Optiplex GX-70
PC-compatible computers. All PCs have full product
suites from Adobe, ESRI, Macromedia, and Microsoft.
Computer and Information Science (CIS) Labs, Department of Computer and Information
Science
1st and 2nd floor, Wachman Hall
The CIS department offers students the use of several
computer labs within Wachman Hall. Three operating systems
are used in the computer labs. Room 104 features 30 systems
running Redhat Linux 9.0. Rooms 108 and 209 each feature 30
systems running Windows XP. Rooms 200 and 215 feature 30
systems each, set up to dual-boot either to Redhat or
Windows. Room 207 features 30 brand new Sun systems
operating on the Solaris platform.
Geographic Information Systems Lab, Department of
Geography and Urban Studies
Gladfelter Hall 336
This lab features 19, dual 3.02 GHz, multi-threading,
Pentium Xeon workstations which are supported by a
wide-range of associated peripheral devices for data input
and extraction. Each workstation supports a full compliment
of ESRI and IDRISI GIS software applications
together with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Macromedia
MX Studio products for web-authoring and development. In
addition to hardware and software, students, instructors and
researchers have access to many datasets shared with the
Social Science Data Library and the Temple-based
Philadelphia Indicators Project. More data resides on the
facility's dual 3.02 GHz Dell server.
Landscape Architecture and Horticulture Lab,
Ambler Campus
Dixon Hall 108
This lab features 24 Dell Dimension 8200 Pentium 4 PCs, 1 HP
DesignJet 800 42" Plotter, 1 HP Color LaserJet 5500N
Printer, 1 HP ScanJet 6200 Flatbed Scanner, 1 Vidar TitanII
40" Large Format Scanner, and 1 Epson 11x17 Flatbed Scanner.
Software includes Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, AutoCAD,
Discreet 3D Studio VIZ 3.0, and Quark XPress 4.0.
Wachman Hall Student Computing Center (SCC),
Temple University
Ground floor, Wachman Hall
The SCC is the main computer lab in Wachman Hall and is open
to all Temple students, faculty and staff. It features
99 Gateway PC-Compatible computers and 18 Apple
Macintosh G4 computers. All PCs have full Adobe,
Macromedia, and Microsoft product suites and additional
software such as MiniTab 13, SPSS for Windows, SimBiotic
Software EcoBeaker 2.0, and Wolf Mathematica.
